Where do you call home and where do you live?

My home is in the high desert, ca, a rural desert area in southern california that's often overlooked.

Tell us about yourself.

i'm a grassroots organizer/activist that focuses on environmental justice and immigration issues, in my community and across the globe. my mom's side of the family is from guatemala, and this residency is my first time that i will be visiting the home country!

What are you bringing into your residency?

i am bringing an open mind and eagerness to learn about the local indigenous communities, the infrastructure of the area, and the beauty of guatemala as well as the issues facing indigenous mayan communities + people of guatemala

What drew you to Casa Ceiba?

i was drawn to the fact that this residency was introduced as an opportunity for queer people, and the opportunity to visit my family's home country. i identify as nonbinary myself, and have always felt drawn to visiting guatemala on a deeper level than being a tourist. casa ceiba gives me the opportunity to do this in a welcoming, safe environment where i can ask questions, connect with locals, and be myself.
